Full Size Steam
A1 Steam locomotive Trust
A brand new steam locomotive for the price of a pint, I spend about a fiver a month to support this build. Not a bad deal and it will steam in 2008. So just time for all you doubting Thomas's to pile in with some cash.

A Japanese gentleman H. Watanabe, another site to make your mouth water. I was quite taken with his use of new technology for pattern making You can see from his pictures just how good his workmanship is. Site is in English
www.steamwise.co.ukGood site on building a 4" scale single cylinder Burrell.
burrell-engine-builder.co.uk/Another good site on building a 4" scale single cylinder Burrell.
www.romubricoltout.canalblog.com/All in French so a good excuse to try out Bablefish. Still as a step by step guide this is an inspiration for how I would like this site to develop.
www.danslocoworks.comA cracking site on building a SP 4-8-4 from scratch which gave me a lot of encouragement given what Dan took on without any experience. Sort of kills the advice on build something simple as your first locomotive.
www.geocities.com/britanniabuilderBulding from a kit, you might think is straight forward but as this site shows there is still a lot of work in it.
The Mikado ProjectAn American Mikado, 2-8-2 well on the way to completion

Although working in a much smaller scale than I am, 16mm and gauge1. After a chance encounter at the Pickering model engineering show. Francis has provided invaluable help to me on this project. He has produced a number of Solidworks drawings to enable me to have thermojets printed and thus cast. This has saved me a lot of effort as my Solidworks skills are poor. It also provided a more cost effective route than pattern making for the many smaller components I need.
LaserFramesLaserFrames have done a lot of work for me and been a great help. They offer a CNC bending service which has also been invaluable in saving me time and been far more accurate than my home made efforts.
Real TrainsSupplier of the best live steam locomotive design I have seen. Run by Jim Kreider the designer they have parts and drawings for Jim's Nickel Plate 2-8-4 Berkshire. A stunning locomotive made all the better by the quality of Jim's design and the super detail of the castings he sells.
FieldsendPeter has been very helpful in fulfilling some of my difficult casting requirements. As a new guy just getting into the model engineering game I wish him every success and would recommend you give him a try.
PPD LtdBased in Argyll Scotland these guys were able to produce large sheets of tread and chequer plate to my drawings and also etch through the plates to produce finished components saving time and also the need for laser cutting after the plates were produced. Their big benefit to me was the size they could produce and the helpful way they worked through the project to get a successful outcome at a price we could all live with.
